தொழிற் கட்சி
Founded: 23 March 1948
Dissolved: 1961
Symbol: Torch, hoe, pen & 12 stars
Formed by several trade unionists and inaugurated on 1 September 1948, it was inspired by the British Labour Party in the United Kingdom. It was one of the two primary political players along with PP during Singapore's earlier days. In the early 1950s, it suffered serious splits that subsequently precipitated the formation of LF. After a poor showing in the 1955 General Election and departures of several key leaders, it became defunct by 1958. When the new Societies Ordinance was passed on 16 May 1960, it did not re-register and ceased to exist.
