The newest political party according to Singapore's official records, it was set up by mostly former RP leaders. Andy Zhu, a decade-long RP chairman and one-time loyalist of his chief Kenneth Jeyaretnam who had unceremoniously expelled him after the 2020 General Election, was made secretary-general of SUP.
